Another apron project

Wow!  It's been awhile since I posted.  Guess I haven't been very creative lately.  Life's been busy with school, family, and my daughter's high school graduation!  Hopefully, I'll have some time this summer to foster my creativity.  I've lots of projects planned and stacked up waiting for me.

A young friend of mine got married on St. Patrick's Day.  I found this fun fabric and made an apron for her wedding shower gift.  I hope it brings her lots of luck in the kitchen!

Bring on the next project!

A New Patriotic Garland

I should have named this blog, See Jane Create S-L-O-W-L-Y!  I'm not getting my projects done very quickly with life interfering the way it does!  I didn't get this project done in time for the 4th of July but, not to worry, it would be ready for Patriot's Day!  NOT!!  It's now ready for Veteran's Day!  Hurray!

I started with several red, white and blue fabrics.  I cut pennant shapes out of five or six of the fabrics (34 pennants to be exact!)  I cut the fabric with pinking shears to avoid hemming.  I'm a lazy seamstress!
This is a looooong garland!  I can hang it between 2 trees in my front yard!
Ignore the dates on the picture!  I ALWAYS forget to reset my date feature when I replace the batteries!

On to the next project.  I'm painting and old bookshelf so that I have a special place to display my mother's teacup collection.  Wish me luck!  Hopefully it  won't take me six months to complete!

Soccer Mom Apron

I have a friend whose son is quite the soccer player. She is a Soccer Mom Extraordinaire! I wanted to thank her for being my classroom assistant so I put together a soccer-themed gift. I sarted with this soccer fabric.

Then I made this very simple apron.  I added rick-rack to the pocket to dress it up a little.

Then I put together a few soccer items I picked up here and there:
And Voila! A fun little gift for my friend!  On to the next project!

Project Board

I had so many projects and plans running through my head that I decided to organize them with a project board.  I saw many "Bucket Lists" for summer fun in blogland and chose to borrow that idea for my "Project Board List."  I write a project on each tag and pin the tag to this bulletin board that I wasn't using.  These are nine projects I hope to have done before the end of the summer!  There are nine more projects waiting in the wings!  When I complete a project I date the tag.  I've only completed 2 projects thus far so I'd better get crackin'!

A New Garland for the Fourth of July

Here it is!  The completed banner for the Fourth of July.
I started with these pennants that I found at Pottery Barn.

This picture of my Great Aunt Maybelle was my inspiration for the first pennant.  She was 15 when this picture was taken circa 1900.

The other pennants were put together using K & Company embellishments, things I had around the house, and trims from my favorite scrapbooking store, Vintage Melrose.

Ta Da!

Not perfect, but not too shabby, either, eh?

I need to improve my photography skills or invest in a new (expensive!) camera!

My Creative Side

I've never thought of myself as particularly creative.  I've tried my hand at various creative pursuits:  sewing, cooking, scrapbooking, quilting, etc., but, "Creative? Me? I don't think so!"

Recently, I've begun to re-examine that thinking!  After all, God is creative and I'm made in His image, am I not?  So this blog is all about pursuing my creatvie side.  I don't know where it will lead me, but please join me on my journey!  It's going to be fun!

Coming Soon!  Pictures of a Patriotic garland that I'm making for the Fourth of July.  Stay tuned!
